Leighton Asia HKCC defended their League title by defeating Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish
at Aberdeen football ground on 7 February Saturday.

Following a 9-9 half-time cliffhanger,
Leighton Asia HKCC won the day with
a respectable 19-9, wiping away any
doubts about who was the stronger
team.
Unfortunately, the match saw two key
players, HKCC fullback Rowan Varty
and Hong Kong Scottish winger Dave
Whiteford, stretchered off the pitch,
both with serious concussion.

Despite being described by SCMP as
a ‘muted end to the league’, in light
of the two casualities, the result for
Leighton Asia, the official spionsor of
HKCC, is a huge success ahead of
the Grand Championship Playoffs.
The 2014-15 HKRFU Premiership is
the top rugby union competition in
Hong Kong. The league runs from 27
September 2014 to 7 February 2015
before the Grand Championship play-
offs and features the city’s top six
clubs – Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers,
Bloomberg HK Scottish, Leighton
Asia HKCC, Natixis HKFC, Abacus
Kowloon and Societe Generale Valley.
Last year Leighton Asia HKCC won
the 2013-14 league title, but Valley
won the Grand Championship final.
